The Plym Valley Way- Saltram House to Clearbrook
12 mile route. Rating: easy
The Plym Valley Way
follows the course of the old Great Western Railway line through tunnels and across viaducts. Most of this cycle way is off road - following the abandoned railway line, there is a slight incline, but nothing too taxing. Stunning views, historic woodlands, Isambard Kingdom Brunel's curved Shaugh Tunnel and a return journey that's nearly all down hill.

A very easy and mostly level route around Burrator Reservoir. Stunning views across the reservoir to open moorland, many footpaths to explore. Dramatic overflows from the tops of the dam after periods of wet weather and vibrant displays of rhododendrons and azaleas.

You can ride out on the open moor - provided that it’s common land . trot along woodland trails and bridleways, or follow in the hoofprints of ancient medieval traders along historic byways linking towns and villages. If you don’t have your own horse, or you.re a novice in the saddle, there are first-class stables listed overleaf offering you a good horse, tuition and an experienced guide.
Rides are organised into small groups & tailored to your ability. Qualified ride leaders & instructors are on hand to give as much instruction as required allowing you to enjoy your Dartmoor Riding experience. For beginners to advanced riders.
